My boyfriend and I started saving for our wedding from the minute I graduated from University. A traditional big white wedding was my dream and we started putting away around £1,500 a month into a Principality account -  not only to pay towards the wedding but also towards a deposit for our dream home that we planned to move into as Mr and Mrs.

Both my husband and I had were born and bred in Llanbradach and had our hearts set on a 3 bedroom semi detached dormer bungalow on the same estate as my first school and right in between both of our parents’ houses.

My parents had their first mortgage with Principality and so we trusted the Society to do the same for us, plus they had a 95% LTV first time buyer mortgage that was perfect for us.

We used our savings to put down a deposit and then ploughed the left over money into a new kitchen and bathroom. The house hadn’t been lived in for four years so it needed some serious tender loving care.

It was all hands on deck and finally at 8pm on the night before our wedding we put down our paint brushes with a big smile on our faces.

After a fantastic wedding day, my husband carried me over the threshold to our new home. I can’t thank Principality enough for helping us to build our future together, as Mr and Mrs Dawes.
