Penybont and District Community Centre

The Penybont and District Community Centre in Llandrindod Wells is a community centre that enables people of all ages from across a wide area of Mid Wales to gather for enjoyable group activities.

The Centre will use the money to reseal the main floor of the centre and re-line the badminton court to encourage social and sporting activities among people aged from five to 95.

The award means that not only will the Penybont and District Community Centre receive a new-look badminton court, but the improved floor surface will enable other activities like keep-fit, dance, bowls and table-tennis to be enjoyed as part of the facilities.

But there will also be enough money left over from the Principality Big Birthday Giveaway award for the rest of the community centre to be painted and decorated and given a whole new look.

Community centre secretary Lynda Price said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been chosen to receive this money from Principality Building Society. It will mean such a lot to the centre and the community it serves.

“The existing floor has been down for more than 20 years and is showing its age. This money will provide us with a much better facilities for all community sports and, in particular, enable badminton to progress among young people within the community.”
