19/05/2010: Rockwood Hospital Garden gets a makeover...

Rockwood Hospital

Staff from Principality spruced up the Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit at Rookwood Hospital’s garden in Fairwater recently.

The team planted flowers, scrubbed benches and power washed the patio to transform it into a colourful and friendly environment for the residents to enjoy.

Ward Manager Margo Lord said: “The garden will make a real difference to our patients, and it’s great that the work has been done just in time for summer.”

The project formed part of Principality’s Leadership and Management program, aimed at developing professional skills across the organisation. Staff from across the Principality group chose to put their newly-acquired skills to good use in the local community.

Graeme Yorston, Chief Operating Officer at Principality Building Society, said: “We are delighted to be able to support this initiative. Our close relationship with Business in the Community ensures that we can continually improve and support local communities throughout Wales.

“The Training program has enabled us to develop the skills and capabilities of our staff to drive Principality forward while also making a real difference to our members, customers and their communities across Wales.”

The Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit works to rehabilitate people who have had major trauma or other injury to the brain and need specialist attention to recuperate.
The Unit launched the Prop Appeal to improve conditions and the overall patient experience in 2008.
